Igus is a German company founded on October 15th, 1964 by Günter Blase in Cologne. For the first 20 years, the company operated as a supplier of complex technical polymer components. IGUS is a company that aims to extend the lifespan of customers' devices with reasonable prices and high-level technology. During our European commerce class, we visited IGUS to find out what kind of products the company produces and what it aims for.

The first thing we saw there were machines with various roles. The machines assemble other parts and also play a role in stamping. Besides, they move automatically. They are very expensive because it takes a lot of time and effort to make these machines. The important thing is that it has to do with plastic. The second thing we saw was IGUS' warehouse. The warehouse of IGUS is divided into work space and storage space. For the introduction of it, the staff also informed us that there are symbolic colors of the company, and the design of the warehouse is designed based on them. In addition, IGUS' warehouse is built to receive sunlight well, so there is no need to consume energy to turn on the lights during the day. The image of the warehouse looked similar to IKEA. The third thing we saw was a bicycle made of plastic, Everything we could see in the PPT was presented by the staff. It is not yet in Korea, but I will be able to see it if I visit IGUS again next year. The fourth thing is a forklift carrying goods. This forklift is up-to-date, and does not require much area to change direction. What was surprising was that the forklift could move vertically and horizontally. So, the students who applied for forklift boarding could also have time to experience firsthand how the forklift moves when carrying goods. The last thing we saw was a self-wrapping machine. The machine, which was delicately wrapping to deliver the goods to customers, looked like a human being. It was amazing to see firsthand how people solve what needs to be done with advanced technology.

This visit to IGUS was a good experience for both the French and German Language and Literature. Even though it is a company that deals with areas that both departments do not know much about, we could get a lot of information. If we have a chance to visit IGUS again later, we can get better experiences and informations.
